They have a similar color, and cannot fly. To date bedbugs have not been found to spread disease. They generally bite and cause an itching sensation. Sometimes the bite may initiate an allergic reaction. Children tend to be more sensitive to bedbug bites than adults. While it has not been shown that these creatures can spread disease, there is always a possibility .

Is the bedbug problem under control in hotels?

Unfortunately no, bedbugs are seeing a resurgence almost everywhere. The problem is the lack of reporting. A fancy hotel is unlikely to ever comment that they have a bed bug problem, otherwise they lose business. But in reality, the problem is huge. Unlike most insects and household vermin, bedbugs are a lot more difficult to get rid off. These creatures are hardy and can survive in almost any environment. Besides the home, you are also likely to find bedbugs in hotels, movie theaters, and anywhere where humans socialize.

Is it possible to carry bedbugs home from a movie theater?

The answer is yes, but it is difficult. Bedbugs do lurk in dark warm places and where food is found. These creatures generally do not tag along with you after the movie is over. But there is a possibility that one bedbug may be hidden in your jacket sleeve or your pant pockets. So when you get home, the best thing to do is remove your clothes before you enter the home. Shake and inspect the clothes . If you think there is a bedbug in your clothes, put the clothes in a hot dryer for at least 30 minutes. If you live in cold place like Canada, leave the clothes outside all night- bedbugs do not tolerate the cold well. This may sound crazy advice, but once you get a bedbug in your home, it will be impossible to get rid of that creature.

Is it possible to know if a hotel has bedbugs?

No, you can check the bed, the carpet, crevices and mattress, but bedbugs are not easily seen. They usually hide in places where you may never think of looking. You are more likely to find them along the cracks and crevices and along the headboard. But the way hotel beds are built, it is impossible to dismantle them and check for bedbugs. You have two choices, do not go to the hotel if you are worried about bedbugs or sleep outside.

Do insecticides sprays work against bed bugs?

More than likely the insecticide spray will make you sick. Today, bedbugs are resistant to almost every known insecticide. So if you go on spraying these toxic chemicals in your home, it is you and your family who are going to need treatment in hospital. Insect experts claim that we have run out of solutions on to kill these creatures. The role of chemicals and insecticides is no longer practical or effective.

What is the best method of getting rid of bedbugs in my home?

I would recommend heat treatment. For this you will need an exterminator. But first try to get rid of all contaminated clothes, toys and linen. Use industrial strength vacuum to suck up all the areas of the home where you are most likely to see bedbugs. Wash everything that is durable in very hot water. Clean up the home first because these exterminators do not come cheap.

Top Nine Romantic Caribbean Getaways

Coastal Living, whether you're looking for the perfect honeymoon spot, or just a romantic weekend for two, these ten Caribbean resorts are prime places to relax and indulge with each other.

If you are looking for an exotic adventure at the Caribbean Island resorts you should go to Dominica, Bahamas, Jamaica, Turks & Caicos, Antigua,St. Barts, Aruba, Grenada, and the British Virgin Islands.

1) British Virgin Islands: Peter Island Resort

Peter Island has all the romantic essentials: secluded beaches, luxurious suites and villas, and a quietly attentive staff. It is also the very popular destination for privately owned boats.

Rottnest Island is renowned for its many beautiful beaches with soft, soft white sand and turquoise waters often surrounded by reefs which make it ideal for snorkeling and diving. One can spend hours doing very little by laying on the beach enjoying a book and occasionally taking a cool dip in that beautifully refreshing crystal clear, clean water. Snorkeling and diving in the reefs is a fun filled option and if you really know where to look, you can dive for your lunch. Crayfish live on the shelves of the reefs and Australians love their crayfish. There is nothing like it – a lunch of crayfish, freshly baked bread from the bakery and a cold beer, or, my preference, a beer shandy! After a morning in the sun, swimming and relaxing, a crayfish lunch is a memorable midday break.

Getting around without a car is a pleasant way to spend the time. Life slows down and you enjoy the scenery as you cycle along on your rented bicycle. Walking along the sandy paths is another option and there is also a bus that travels around the island if walking or cycling are not for you.

The island is populated by, and named after, a little, shy marsurpial known as a quokka but originally thought to be a large rat! When William de Vlaming visited the island in 1696 and observed the quokka, he named the island Rotte Nest. In fact, the quokka looks like a very small kangaroo. The first European believed to have discovered the island was Dutch explorer Samuel Vokerson in 1658.

Originally occupied by Australian aborigines, the island separated from the mainland about 7000 years ago, and was home to various tribes of aboriginals until the Europeans discovered it. They turned it into a penal colony in the 1800’s for mostly aboriginals, who were put to work building various structures around the island, mostly from the native limestone. Some of these structures still stand today, notably some of the original prison quarters now rented out as cottages. The thick limestone walls help to keep the interiors pleasantly cool.

Rottnest is a popular tourist destination for people who want nothing more than peace and quiet, sun and swimming, enjoying the natural vegetation and fauna, snorkeling and scuba diving, cycling or walking from one beach to another.

There are some lovely places to stay. Renting a cottage is one option or staying in one of the two comfortable hotels, another. There is also backpacker accommodation available for the budget conscious.

For family fun other than the beaches, there are numerous sporting activities at the Fun Park, including an 18 hole mini golf course. The island also has a unique 9 hole golf course that can be played as an 18 hole golf course.

Rottnest Island is sub-tropical and the vegetation is scrubby rather than lush, which you will find further North towards the equator. The beauty of this island lies in its idyllic peaceful way of spending a holiday and made more so by its lack of cars. There are a couple of island emergency vehicles around but for the most part, it is nothing but soft breezes, the salty air, low murmurings of relaxed families and the sound of bicycle tires!

Author: Maxine Willan

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts around the World

Rosewood is a name that is famed the world over for their luxury properties. Rosewood Hotels & Resorts have luxury properties spread throughout the world. With people willing to splurge huge sums of money to stay in real style, hoteliers too are setting higher standards of luxury and hospitality. From building hotels in the midst of the sea to even undersea hotels, almost every possible concept is being given serious thought by them. With rapidly advancing construction technology to aid them in their dreams, some of the most myriad designs and mind-boggling buildings these days can be seen in the form of luxury hotels.

If one were to make a list of the greatest luxury hotels under development, it would definitely include some extraordinary designs. Take for example the Poseiden undersea resort that is opening in Fiji. This property is actually built up from the sea. As a guest you can literally be one among the beautiful coral reefs. The luxurious resort is going to have over 500 luxuriously large suites when completed.

Another luxury hotel which is again carrying great expectations is the Cassa in New York City. This hotel will rise up to 46 stories when complete and will offer spectacular views of Midtown Manhattan. The Scandinavian architecture, complete with a terrace and garden courtyard would be a sight to behold when complete. Talking about New York, one can also pretty soon see the completion of the renovated Mark Hotel. Once opened, this hotel is going to be the most luxurious in New York.

Availability of cutting edge technology and funding sources has meant that hoteliers are coming up with incredible ideas to attract guests these days. One of the best examples for this can be found in the Water World Hotel, which is fast nearing completion in Beijing,. This 400 room hotel features a range of cafes, restaurants and public areas. Designed by the famous Atkin’s architecture group, guests will also feel close to nature here with its vast water theme park complete with facilities for bungee jumping and rock climbing. Designers have taken care to incorporate cascading waterfalls and water ways into the architecture of this marvelous hotel, making it one of the greatest luxury hotels to open soon.

Another spectacular hotel that is going to be completed soon is the Hydropolis Undersea Hotel in Dubai. The property extends across a whopping 1 million square foot. Guests will have access to exclusive island villas, suites, shopping malls and a live entertainment center, to mention only a few amenities. In fact, guests will also have a missile defense system for their personal security when staying in one of the underwater guestrooms here. Millions of tourists throng to Miami for the sun, surf, sand and its throbbing nightlife. Fortunately for everyone visiting this premier tourism destination, there are plenty of accommodation options available. From the all inclusive Miami vacation resorts to budget hotels, you can definitely find accommodation to suit your budget.

Planning well in advance is the trick to finding the right accommodation in Miami. Remember the popularity of the place means that Miami vacation resorts are always in great demand. You should therefore try and book your accommodation well in advance. The internet is perhaps the best way to start the process. Most of the leading vacation resorts have their own websites where you can book your accommodation. Make sure that you go through each and every detail before you book your accommodation. It would be even better if you can call up the vacation resort and get first hand information on all the amenities they offer.

Perhaps the most sought after Miami vacation resorts are the ones that are facing the beach. Although there are many of them, you will still find it difficult to get accommodation there, unless you have booked well in advance. From the Art Deco District to South Beach, the numerous gardens and restaurants, almost everything seems to be centered on the beaches in Miami. There is nothing more fulfilling than enjoying the beauty of the place with a beach front hotel soaking up great views. If you are an avid golfer who is willing to loosen the strings of his purse, then you can also choose from a choice of golf resorts too in Miami.

Contrary to popular perception, not all vacation resorts in Miami are expensive. It only requires a bit of researching on your part to find accommodation options that would fit your budget perfectly. You can always get in touch with some of your friends or family members who may recommend a good vacation resort they’ve already staying in.

One of the biggest advantages that Miami vacation resorts have over hotels is that they offer more space and fun options for the entire family. For instance, there are many resorts which have a pool especially for kids. Most of the resorts will have separate activities and attractions meant for children allowing the parents to spend time together exploring the various attractions of Miami in a leisurely manner, without having to worry about the kids.

Another advantage that you get with a vacation resort is the presence of restaurants, snacking corners and bars on the premises. Most of them will also have their own fitness center so that you don’t miss out on your regular workout. Live entertainment is another area where most of the vacation resorts score over hotels. With so many advantages, it is not surprising that vacation resorts in Miami are always the preferred choice of tourists.

America’s Best Secret Vacation Resort

If one has never been to Sedona, AZ, one has not seen much in America. Sedona is perhaps the best kept secret among tourists who want solitude, rugged beauty, sun and view the stunning red rocks. With a very mild winter and hot summer, Sedona has something for everyone throughout the year. Sedona is located about 2 hrs drive north of Phoenix.

For the nature lover, Sedona is nothing short of paradise. On the outskirts of town are some of the most breath taking network of mountain trails. Each of the trails is distinctive and has historical meaning. The view atop the ranges is simply awesome. For those are more energetic, there is an extensive network of bike trails which take you to almost every mountain peak- where one can see the majestic landscape of red rock formation.

The US forest service has pre-designated much of the area around Sedona as ecofriendly. These parks offer fishing, picnics, swimming and horseback riding. For the golf fan, one can shoot at any of the immaculate courses with a club. For the naturalist, there is bird watching, flower gathering and watching the natural wild life.

No one should leave Sedona without seeing the famous red rocks. This red rock county offers some of the most spectacular scenery one can imagine. The landscape is full of red peaks, cliffs, luxuriant vegetation and a variety of desert wild life. There are many guided tours which can take you to see the primeval ruins, unspoiled canyons and even the Grand Canyon. Besides bus tours, Sedona also offers hot balloon rides, helicopter trips and jeep tours to the Grand Canyon.

The sights are amazing and will make you want to see more.

When one is tired of the desert, Sedona is now becoming an important resort for those seeking spiritual enlightenment. There are countless spas, health spas and spiritual homes- here you will get the perfect body massage, soothe your body aches, get your skin cleaned, feel pure and heavenly.

During the summer months, there are arts and special events almost every weekend. Besides the musical and film festivals Sedona has over 100 art galleries.

Dining is like any other city in America. Almost every type of cuisine to meet all budgets is available in this town. Besides Mexican, there are Italian, Indian, Chinese and the American fast food stores. Sedona is a town made for walking. For access to the countryside a car, bike or a jeep is required. In any case, the town has ample guided tours.

Even though Sedona has many motels and hotels, the rooms are generally not available during peak summer months. So it is wise to preplan the vacation to Sedona. Sedona does have a small airport but it is too small for the large jets. Most people fly into phoenix and then a bus to Sedona. For those think New York is a reflection of the real America- they are wrong. Go and see Sedona and you will know the real “Home of the Brave”

Curacao – Mediterranean Holiday in Central America

With the economy taking a downturn and the dollar continuing to fall, vacations in Europe can get to be expensive. The hotels come in all styles and many come with inclusive packages. The hotels cater to every type of budget and most offer some type of package deal for divers. When you're trying to decide which spot is the one for you while you're looking into that New Mexico trip , why not give Santa Fe the once over? This is the place that's got a great mix of Southwestern, Native American and Spanish influences and the accommodations there are some of the most romantic that can be found anywhere in the United States and Santa Fe Hotels are some of the best of these.

Of course like any other place that caters to tourism, some Santa Fe hotels attract a little more attention than others. At the top of the list for the ones that are both unique and attractive is the Inn on The Alameda. This is a wonderful mix that's been modeled on a European design and this accommodation is found within easy walking distance to all the things that you'll want to see while you're in Santa Fe like museums and art galleries. This hotel has quite an impressive list of the kinds of amenities that most of the tourists that travel to the area are looking for including air conditioning and non smoking rooms that are available upon request. As well as dial up Internet access, the Inn on The Alameda also has cable and satellite television and several restaurants in the hotel. This hotel also has one of the Santa Fe hotels pet welcome designations that means you are more than welcome to bring your animal friends with you.

The choice that you get when you're looking at Santa Fe Hotels also extends to the traditional. Take a look at the Homewood Suites Santa Fe as well and you're sure to see that this 79 room accommodation has all the amenities that you're looking for. This is the place that boasts a Native American atmosphere and here all the suites have separate living and sleeping areas for that apartment feel. Some of the other features include, a business center with a safety deposit box at the front counter and a swimming pool and a laundry service.

There are quite a few choices when you're looking for the right place to stay in Santa Fe. Once you get good look you'll wonder why you didn’t have Santa Fe hotels on your holiday list before.

Welcome to the World of Remi Loves Travelling and Luxury Hotels blog.

Travelling and staying in luxury hotels:

We all have tales of our passion and woe from the countries we have travelled to. They can be the key to discovering yourself and the mystery of the humanity -- providing the place for learning and friendships to grow and develop. And travel can be the perfect solution of escape from an all too familiar way of life which suddenly becomes boring.. A hotel room in a different country can be the perfect answer when the need arises the for the tired traveler.. But equally, if you book into the wrong hotel in the wrong country, disaster can be raise its ugly head. Stories are told of illegal activity, moldy conditions, bugs in the bed, cramped spaces or just downright nasty hospitality. The place you choose to sleep can really make or break your whole holiday. If you’re not well rested you won’t have much fun travelling and experiencing a new country. It is vital to make good choices in hotel bookings and then report any poor quality decisions you make and then warn other tourists before they make the same mistake.

The ideal of a great bargain and a comfortable hotel is pretty much desired by all . All of the universe desires a good night’s sleep. A hotel is the perfect place to rest your head when on your travels. It’s a lifestyle choice. Just think of all the different package deal vacation commercials you’ve seen on television These commercials will often play up the traveler’s FEAR of missing out on the perfect bargain vacation experience -- depicting less than satisfactory destinations, noisy conditions, tiny hotel rooms or dirty conditions -- but they have an important message. We all want a good rest in the perfect vacation destination.

So what I propose here on my blog is to write about all sorts of experiences I have had. I will try to focus most on the times that I (or friends of mine) have spent in different countries -- whether passing through, stopping for a long time and looking for work, or just doing the “tourist thing”. I won’t just write about the good stories and try to make things sound better than they actually were. There would be no point of doing that? It would be a waste of time. Don’t worry, the stories won’t be TOO horrifying either. All tales of travel have their highs and lows and this also will be no exception. Some experiences have been somewhat horrific and I will actually tell of them here and there.

So thanks for visiting my blog. Stay tuned and you can find out more about about hotels and travel in many parts of the world and if they are worth your time to visit. Bon Voyage!
